So just curious,

Its been a few years since I have hunted here in East TN. Last probably 5 or so years I have hunted North Carolina private property. "Lost that" So, now I am back to hunting hear local until I can find something else. I have been hunting public land since the start of Bow 3-4 times a week and so far nothing no big deal but what doesn't make since is I have scouted this same Area all summer seen plenty of deer there and now nothing haven't seen the first sign of them since opening morning. I am new to this public land hunting and its kind of aggravating in a way because every time I go in the mornings you have idiots coming in about 7:00-7:20 walking through making all kinds of racket! Am i the only one having this issue or is this just normal? Just curious!

Having hunters walk through making racket is definitely one reason you ain't seeing deer. Another is more than likely acorns are dropping. If you have a lot of acorns they don't have to move far to eat. If you don't have a lot of acorns you may be in the wrong spot. Get away from pressure and find the nut trees they are hitting and you will see deer.

Thank you Sir, I have been staying near a river hoping they would be coming down to it for water since its been so Dry but no luck yet.

When I have hunted public land, I try to "hunt" the hunters as much as the deer. I try to use hunters to my advantage. I set up so they push deer to me either when they come in or when they leave. I hold tight and don't let foot traffic discourage me. But, it can be very annoying dealing with people in and out - that's just the joy of hunting public land. Hope you get a giant buck.

I appreciate it buddy! Good advice! heck I would be just as happy with a Doe right now! the itch has got me bad lol.

Public land is a roll of the dice. Some is definitely better than others. I had a spot where I had seen deer all season, just not in range. Go in and about 45 minutes before daylight here comes a hunter. Hit him with the flashlight at least 10 times. He trampled all over the ridge then setup 70 yards from me parallel. Well wouldn't you know it he shoots a doe that was walking/feeding in my direction. TBH I was proud of myself for just saying congrats and moving along. Some people would have responded differently and I would have years ago.

I am hunting Big south fork and probably go to North Cumberland some this year
Big South Fork is about 2 and a half hours from me and North Cumberland isn't that Royal Blue?

There is tva land close to Powell! If you have a boat there is a ton of places on Norris lake. Wish I had the space to keep a boat. I'd be all over a 15ft aluminum!
