Wonder if TC under Ritts will bring out a smokeless ML barrel for the encore platform....

No way I'm wasting $1000 on a smokeless ML, but If they make a $400 bbl... I just might!

That would be sweet
Unless of course they are scared of all the Darwin awards bestowed upon the idiots charging by volume
😅😅😅

I doubt it.

I do regret not getting one of these platforms. It would solve some space issues with just swapping out the barrel and scope. I could just keep them in some cases.

Ruger

I think they would be too scared of the misuse liability. I heard that is why Savage discontinued theirs.

You have to go to Luke at Arrowhead smokeless or the other guy...cant remember his name. I assume they still convert them. They got so good it conversions and related products they may command more than you want to spend now.

Those 45/70 barrels may be challenging to find currently, but new production will help.

I can remember when one guy did the conversions for like 100 bucks on this forum.

Conversion, plug, modules, less than $500. It would be good to have a sizing die for sabotless shooting. That's about $150

It's a small price to pay for a ml you never have to clean, can be left loaded from one season to another, and performance at or above 45-70 levels.

Luke at arrowhead is only doing certain ones now from what I remember

Actually he is selling encore barrels and plugs right now.

I'd go for it. A buddy of mine converted and Encore 45/70 to MZ and has killed deer out to 340 yards with it. I've hunted with it a couple of years and it's a GREAT gun.

I have a 45/70 Encore conversion and love it. It's been responsible for many deer meeting their maker including several of my biggest. My son killed one this year the farthest it's killed one at 170+.

Ouch. Add another $400 just for the bbl.

Here's to hoping Ritts mass produces smokeless barrels ready to go for $400!

JD Jones has bbls available from his business (SSK). In stock at Midway for $400 right now

Jeff Hankins is the other main guy who converts 45/70s into smokeless. I went the "cheap" route with a Scout and I've never regretted it.

Always wanted to do a 700 conversion but I just can't bring myself to convert any of my existing 700MLs. They shoot too well.
