I've done several of my own euro mounts and have one ready now for whitening. I've got the blue bottle in the barn and it's a clear liquid but thinking I mixed it with a powder or something before brushing onto the skull. Is my memory correct and if so what is it? Found the same thing on Amazon in a cream (red bottle) and wondering if that would do it by itself.

There is a powder that my taxidermist buddy used in the past to mix with it, but I don't know what it was. I have used the liquid before but had to mix with water and used it all each time.

I now use the creme. I take a small paint brush and brush it on. Let it sit for 24-48 hours and rinse off. I have been using the same gallon for a while now.

I don't normally mix the liquid with a cream. If using the liquid I set the skull in a container and fill with the liquid above the teeth line and use a turkey baster to wet the skull 2-3 times a day for a couple days.

If using cream, I mix with basic white powder that salons use to bleach hair and cover the skull really well for a few days.

Salon 40 is what I use and it works great. Coat it liberally with a brush, cover tightly with Saran Wrap for 24 hrs, remove, rinse and repeat at least one more time, maybe twice, just depends on how 'white' you want it.

Does anyone know if this would work to freshen up an older Euro mount that has yellowed over the years?
Yes but you'll need to soak it in some warm dawn water for a while. Ideally you'll soak it for a week in 100 degree water but if you do t have a fish tank heater you can just get some water to a simmer and turn off the heat. Squirt in some blue dawn (couple tablespoons) and dunk the skull in to foam it up. Let it sit for a couple hours until the water cools down.
Rinse with warm water to remove soap and apply peroxide. Wrap in plastic and but some place warm, ideally you'll let it sit in the sun for a few hours as that activates the peroxide.
About 24hrs later remove plastic and rinse paste off with warm water. Let dry and it should be white again.

I use both the clear and the cream.

I put the skull in a pot, add the clear and bring water level up to the base of the pedicle. Then I just rub the cream on top of the skull that is out of the liquid in between the antlers. Let it soak for 24h, then rinse off.

The clear then goes back into the gallon jugs to be reused over and over.

I paint the crème on skull, then wrap with paper towels that are soaked in a bowl of the clear. Wrap w several layers of paper towels. Then wrap while skull in a plastic garbage bag. Set aside for 3-4 days. Unwrap and wash down. Hang to air dry.
Then coat entire skull with 50/50 white Elmer's glue/hot water mix to seal pores so the skull won't yellow at all in the next 10 years.
I've done 40+ like this, the first still looks as good as the last one I did.

Attached this years skulls..some in progress

What I do, which is the best and only way (clearly) 😂 mix these two into a cake batter consistency and spread it on the skull and wrap it cellophane. Leave it alone for a week or longer, rinse and let it dry. Anything this touches will turn white so be careful not to get it on anything you don't wanna bleach, including your sweatshirt.

Sincerely
