Just picked up the first field-test videos from FIREMANJIM's new homebrew video unit, and so far, I don't think the deer can see the light, hence I feel pretty confident this unit qualifies as "black-flash," even though a human can see a dull purple glow if they are within a few feet of the unit.

I had the unit about 20 feet from the target (a salt lick) and I saw no reaction from any of the the deer being videod at night.

Although it may require a fast internet connection, here's a sample video. Now the original video is much higher quality, but this example is interesting. Watch at the end of the video when a black-flash Uway NT50B burst-mode flashes right next to the doe. No reaction. I love black-flash!

How do you rank the flash on that Homebrew vs. the Uway? I am one of the few that likes them. I ordered two more for this year due to there price coming way down. There customer service is Awesome.

My cameras do not take still pics YET!! I am working on that one now!1 The video units are now FOR SALE and listed on my website if you guys are interested in one. Thanks...Jim

The illumination distance of FIREMANJIM's video unit is farther than the Uway still camera unit.

So cool, but I'm not sure I understand something. How is it that we can see the black flash Uway unit flashing in the infrared video light, but the doe doesn't seem to see it?
