Like it says first buck in a few years due to deployments and then after retirement some health issues.
I saw two bucks at two different times chasing after a doe. Both were shooters but couldn't get a shot on them (thank goodness). He came in about 0900 dogging a doe. Problem he was running towards a thicket of saplings to my left. If he would have gotten in there he would have been lost. She crossed through a clear shooting lane about 30 yards to my left and as soon as she passed through I bleated. He stopped quartering to me a little and I took the shot. Time between me seeing them and taking the shot maybe ten seconds. It was a lot to process because I also hunt a QDMA area that requires four points on one side. He ran about ten yards and fell, got back up staggering and finally fell about 15 yards later for good. Exciting hunt for sure.
