Yesterday was the first day you could apply for a turkey tag in Kansas. I know that isn't a big deal to most of you, but I have family there and love to combine a short visit with them and get to hunt Rio Grade turkeys.
I used to could buy THREE TAGS over the counter back when I first started. Then it was two. Now it is draw only if you are out of state. They did away with fall turkey season this last year all together. The birds seem to be bouncing back. My brother in law has a flock that is living in his windbreak the entire winter. You could shoot one from the bathroom window.
BTW I did get two turkeys a couple of times. The last time I could get two I got two in ONE SHOT with my crossbow on the last hour before I had to fly back to Tennessee. I actually didn't mean to, but they were lined up and I was so excited I didn't see the other one. Good thing I had two tags AND you get use both tags in Kansas the same day. So completely legal, but I didn't mean to do it.
