Got my first musky yesterday while smallie fishing. If I had to guess I'd say it was between 35-40". I was wading in 3' of water throwing a torpedo not at all expecting to hook a musky. Once I hooked up I tightened the drag to reduce fight time and keep the fish as green as possible. It was hooked in the bottom jaw which kept it from sawing me off. I took the hook out while in the water and was as careful as could be to keep it healthy. It must have been fine because it gave me a good tail splash after the tail pinch. I never thought my first musky would come wade fishing with an 8# flouro leader and bass gear. How many places in the world can you pull that off? Of course neither my buddy or I had our phones with us so I didn't get a pic. At lease I had a witness.
