First skunk of the year

Went to the 1,000 acre lake today and tried for crappie.
Never found any schooling fish and none of the singles would eat.
Did see what was probably monster bass or catfish but they were about 40' deep and with the wind I didn't have anything to get down there to them.
Oh well it was nice to be out there anyway.

I went yesterday and managed to keep 7 fish. About half were over 12 inches. Fished for 6 hours.

My other option was to stay home and cut up a sweet gum tree I dropped Monday.

Tree is still on the ground but I had fresh fish for dinner yesterday.

I actually caught some pretty good crappie a few weeks ago.
@cbhunter and I whacked the bream this spring

Not sure about the grass but there are saplings EVERYWHERE!!!
In some spots it's hard to troll around since it's so shallow.

With the success I am blessed to have, I am fairly decent at catching most any species of fish I pursue, I try to NOT talk about the trips I do not catch a fish. I have way to many trips where not only do I not catch a fish, I am not sure I was ever within a mile of a fish. Skunk at different times could be a nickname for me.

It was absolutely on fire the day it opened. One of the most fun topwater days I have ever had. It went down hill really really fast though, and not worth going to now.
