Congrats! Bet you forgot the cold as he worked in!
Well to tell you the truth the hunt happened so fast I didn't have time to feel the cold. From the time I struck him to the shot was less than 10 minutes. Now the morning before I got the coldest I've about ever been. I walked in that morning and one gobbled about 75 yards away. I sat down at the closest tree and for the next hour and a half I sat motionless because as it got daylight I could see him in the tree gobbling and trying to strut on the limb in 15 to 20 mph winds. When he finally pitched down he landed about 50 yards away down a steep bank where I couldn't see him. I was shivering so bad when I tried to use my mouth call it sounded like a hen with a bad stutter. About that time at least 6 hens pitched down and finally lead him away.
