From the refs, play clock had clearly expired.Kentucky clearly won the game. That was as bad of a call as the supposed catch in the end zone against UT that stole the game for Florida years ago!

Exactly, the ball doesn't have to be snapped in the air. Just any motion off the line. Anyway, that would not have ended the game. Gators would have still got another down.

NO. The SEC did not agree with the call. What they agreed with was the process the refs used; looking at the clock when it reached zero, THEN looking to see if the fall was in motion. The process was correct, the call was not.

Received a gift, plain and simple.I've seen the replays over and over, center still has hands on the ball when clock hit zero.It don't really matter,Florida is not gonna win many games anyway but I feel sorry for Kentucky

Then it WAS the correct call! If the ref watches the clock THEN looks at the ball. All the replays are slowed way down, your talking hundredths of a second. Anyway way I guess the spearing call that didn't get called against UK was ok?

Here's how it works.... Refs watch clock until it hit zero. They then turn and look at the ball. Reaction time is involved and ball was snapped by that time. This happens every game so FL didn't get an advantage.

Here's the kicker where the avg. couch potato football fan doesn't understand. Even if they threw a flag because the play clock expired. They back the ball up 5 yards from the 9 to the 14 yard line and do it again. There's no game clock in OT.... :) No matter what we can't say KY lost the game on that play... Carry on... :)

I keep trying to explain this, but some just don't get it!

Just like the pass interference call wasn't made against UF in the first half. We can nick pick every call, or perceived missed call, but it will not change the outcome. FL won, KY lost. Both FL and KY missed opportunities to secure the win midway through the 4th but didn't capitalize. Better defense by KY on the 4th and 7 and the delay call/ no call would be moot. Congrats to the gators for the win, as well as KY for as well they played. If we can build on it, the season may be fun.

Wrangler95, Florida might have won against Wildcats w/ Final score, but they lost the confidence of their fans, and will lose more games than they will win.
Sorry G-n-B but that is the facts for your upcoming season.

I'm just glad FL won and haven't been searching for a silver lining in a 24 point lost.. :(

NO. The SEC did not agree with the call. What they agreed with was the process the refs used; looking at the clock when it reached zero, THEN looking to see if the fall was in motion. The process was correct, the call was not.

Here's the statement. No where does it say they made the wrong call. It affirms their process of determining if a flag was needed or not. They determined one was not needed.

At the request of the University of Kentucky, consistent with SEC protocol, the conference office reviewed the fourth down play in the first overtime of the Kentucky-Florida game and has determined the officials applied the proper mechanics and guidelines that are in place to determine when a flag should be thrown for delay of game, the statement read. The back judge is responsible for delay of game calls. The procedure for the back judge is for his eyes to stay on the clock when it nears zero. When the clock hits zero, he immediately looks from the clock to the ball. If the ball is moving, there is no delay of game. If the ball is stationary, a delay of game penalty is called.

Like I said, the correct process was made, i.e. " determined the officials applied the proper mechanics and guidelines that are in place to determine when a flag should be thrown for delay of game". The SEC neither agreed, nor disagreed with the call. Look at it like this, an attempted forward pass occurs when the ball is in the QB hand, and his arm is moving forward. The correct mechanic and procedure is determined by; 1( the QB has control of the ball, and 2) his arm is moving forward. All of us have seen plays were we agree, or disagreed with the refs judgement either on the field, or in the booth. It doesn't matter whether the correct call was made, if in the opinion of the SEC, the correct mechanic and procedure was applied.

That's all I have to say on the matter. It is my right to believe and your right to disagree. In the end, its just a ball game, and deer season opens in 10 days. :D

I like the call so it has to be correct... :D Yes hunting season is close.... :)

Was a good game and UT fans might want to rethink an easy win against the Kat's

Don't know how you figure Kentucky beat Fl. Once again, if a flag would have been thrown for delay of game that would not have ended the game. They would have backed it up 5 yards and lined up again. How do you you know they wouldn't of scored then too?
