The HBC coach never had to play many SEC games at home back to back. The only reason that CJM did, was because the Hurricane last year. The LSU game was switched to UF this year so there's an interesting fact that made this possible. So your fact would of not played much of a factor when the HBC was at UF. Here's another interesting fact for the fact finders. The HBC only played 7 or 8 SEC games per regular season. CJM plays 9 per regular season. Looks like the deck might be a little stacked on facts.

But I do remember HBC losing 3 games in a row (FSU. Bama, and Mich St.). I believe the comparing was made that they are not going to fire CJM in his 3 year after having the same # of win as HBC had in his first two years. Also the HBC and CJM are the only 2 coaches to take UF to the SEC title game in their first two years at UF.

I'm a huge HBC fan and no one has stated that CJM is Spurrier. It's just been pointed out that there are #s that show that he will not probably be fired in year 3. :tu:

Re: Florida Texas A&M

Here's another fact, Mac and Muschamp STILL have the same record at the same point in their FL tenure's :D !

Right, CWM was at UF a total of 4 seasons This even helps my argument about CJM not being fired this year.......

We might need to focus on some other coaches at the moment..... :tu:

Sometimes it's not good being #1..... :rotf:

Re: Florida Texas A&M

I think everyone knows CJM is safe this year after winning back to back east titles

10-4 (with roid using QB & Mischamps loaded D)
9-4
Probably looking at 7-4, even if u wanna count the cupcake that got called off (cause i know gators will :tu: ) 8-4...same record ole CBJ had year 3.....

10 wins
9wins
7/8 wins

Going the wrong way.

Dude is safe this season, but he needs to come out swinging next year, can't be laying eggs against average teams in the swamp next season.

If we are going to make an excuse why he went 10-4 his first year because of CWM loaded "D". Why not just say he should of went 10-4 his second year also since they had to cancel a cupcake game due to a Hurricane? It should work both way?

Since we are making excuses both ways.... I'm sure missing 20 scolly player might be causing the trend this year. Callaway and Scarlet could of been the difference in the las couple of games. Maybe even LDR?

Re: Florida Texas A&M

Your right the only #'s that matter with 0 excuses

10-4
9-4
Probably 7-4

That's the #'s people will remember. Not the QB on roids or muschamps D, & not the players being suspended.

If UF goes 8-4 again next year & lays some eggs.

No one will be saying well it's ok cause the year before we had 10 players missing.

UF needs to come out swinging next year is all I was saying

Re: Florida Texas A&M

FWIW,

ESPN Chris Low on his radio show said he doesn't expect McElwain to be back at UF next year and insinuated it would be a mutual deal. Mentioned that he thought Mac was a west coast guy and would be headed back that way. Also mentioned that he wouldn't be surprised to him in the mix for the UCLA job should it come open. Said he thought Butch was done and decision could come any time after Bama game. Said it was a tricky situation for UTK because hiring a proven coach is very difficult to do these days. Commented that "a lot of coaches said no before they hired Butch". Said talk of Gruden or Kelly is a pipe dream.

I could see that. Hope he doesn't bolt though.

CJM would have to pay UF back between $3.5 million and $1.5 million if he leaves prior to 2021. Some of the money would go back to CSU to pay a portion of UF's buyout of CJM contract. CJM buyout right now if fired would be around 10 million.

Jim McElwain - $12,500,000 (owed $2.5M a year for the duration of his contract if he's fired)
