Fox squirrels

Was trying to do some research and figure out where I need to take a trip to get my little squirrel dog on her first Fox squirrels. I know there around and in a lot of different places but what area do you guys think would have the highest population of fox squirrels closest to East Tennessee ? Preferably with some decent size tracks of public land.

You'll find them where you have broken farmland/woodlot habitat.

Right now is probably the hardest time of year to chase them. Not to say you won't be successful but squirrels are denned up big time right now.

Hunting has been ok, lots of dens but we had a good morning yesterday. Killed 7 and let a few get away

If you can get permission, Hawkins County has a healthy population of fox squirrels.
