Took advantage of the mid 70's temps this past weekend and patterned a 1 5/8 oz Big 20 XL Stubby TSS #9 load thru my Affinity/Carlsons .575 extended choke. I was very impressed.

Looks good, but could be better in my opinion. Pattern looks over choked to me based on the fact you should have had 588 pellets going downrange, but I only see 475 accounted for inside the 20", with most being inside the 10". How much buffer did you use? Reason I ask is sometimes you can load more buffer and open the pattern up somewhat, which is what I prefer. Furthermore, I like approximately the same number of pellets in the 10-20" as in the 0-10", so basically for this load, my goal would be a 290/290 split or something similar. These results will do, just adding a few thoughts in case you wanted to take them into consideration.

I agree Andy. With the .575 Carlsons extended I expected a pattern in the 290/290 range. I was surprised it was as tight as it was. I have a Carlsons .575 flush mount as well as a Hunter's Specialties .582 extended I may try to see if they throw a more even pattern.

I want 275-300 in the 10" but that's just me....Its been my experience that TSS is not nearly as tight at say 20yds as lead or hevi-shot so in my opinion unless you are wanting to body shoot one no need to have over half your shot in the 10-20" circle. Once again that's just my personal preference. I like bloody noggins!!!

Glad to see a tight pattern with that choke. I've got the Carlson's .575 sitting on my shelf to try with my new O/U 20g and the same load you tried. I'm really hoping to get something acceptable so I don't have to try a half dozen chokes.

The .575 Carlson's didn't shoot well in my M2 with that load.

Very interested in what kind of "sights" you have on this particular gun. :)

I have both an O/U and a SXS I'd like to figure out a better sighting system than just the factory front bead sight.
The SXS has only 2 3/4" chambers, but if I start loading the TSS, not a problem to me.

Nothing but a front bead. If it shoots to point of aim, it's all that's needed for turkey.

I had a red dot for my M2 last year but just didn't see the need. I took it off.
