Boy he is a tank ! He's probably sterile or testosterone levels extremely low , could be a reason he apparently don't fight or lose weight as the rut does not effect him . Heck of a buck though for sure .

I thought about that. He definitely didn't run himself ragged or act like much of a fighter. But I think "swelling" of their neck coming into the fall is directly tied to a spike in testosterone. And he's definitely got a neck.

All the mature does come to him. :)

 I think that's the biggest buck i've ever seen. What kind of mineral salt?

The salt lick has been there 20+ years. When I was a kid my dad bought a 50 lb block of white salt and we tossed it on the ground right there. I've added salt every year since. It's about 10' in diameter and 3' deep on the high side. Most years now I add 150-200lbs of 50/50 loose white salt and trace mineral salt from rural king.

I was thinking the opposite. He's so fat that he cant mount a doe especially if she's tall. And if he did, she would probably blow out a back knee. So he just gave up. Now he naps all day and eats everybody else's food while they chase does at night.

He produces testosterone just fine.... otherwise he wouldn't grow a normal rack and shed the antlers with the drop in testosterone at the end of the season.

He probably does have an excess of other steroids, probably an adrenal tumor, similar to Cushings syndrome in humans.

Since hes nocturnal, the best way to kill him is to stomp through his bedding area banging on a pot with a metal spoon. Try to get within 50 yards before you start banging. If you startle him enough, he will have a heart attack and fall over, then you can collect your trophy. :)

All of this ^^^^^

Heart attack....I just about spit my coffee out! But drives are what I was thinking.

Do you have any video you could share? Does he jiggle?

His size would be hard to miss. A person could go out at night with an infrared heat seeker and figure out where that big boy is bedding. He can't be walking too far and he is not jumping any fences! What part of west TN is that boy living?

I sure hope you get him. His weight would have to set a record. Needs an autopsy done, Antlers are not bad either. I don't think he will live a lot longer.

I don't have any comedy to add to this thread, but holy moly what a deer. IDC if his rack shrinks to 50 inches next year, that joker would be the trophy of 10 lifetimes for a TN hunter. What a buck!

If you do get him next year you will need a tractor with a front end loader to get him out.I can't imagine dragging a deer that size.

Good lord he's a chunk and a half. I'd need to contemplate the probability of producing a hernia dragging his fat rear out of the woods before pulling the trigger on him.

I knew this deer was around and I knew he wasn't moving during the day. I really regret not trying some type of deer drive in December. I've got a really good setup for it. Especially when the river was out greatly narrowing down the areas he could have been bedding and routes he could have used to leave.

Wow! That deer is something else. Would it be considered baiting if you throw a bunch of bacon and some Krispy Kreme doughnuts out? Lol
I hope he makes it through the year and you get a shot on him next season!

No doubt, he is one old "fat" deer.
Any pics of him with other deer in his presence?

Love to know his age and see his size relative to other deer.

Yes, several. I'll post a few more when I get a chance.
