What's the best method to freeze squirrels for later use?

Can you freeze them whole, then do your cutting after they thaw, or do they need to be cut up first?

Thank you for your advice.

We use to freeze them whole in freezer bags, but we started putting them in small plastic bowls with lids, and fill with water, put the lid on and freeze them in the water, stays fresh longer!

We always put them whole in 1 gal ziploc bags with water and a little salt!
The salt helps preserve and takes some of the wild taste away!

if your meat has a "wild" taste, it wasn't properly cared for in the field.

That's what I've always done. Unless you clean them immediately after you shoot them you can't do anything about a little "wild" taste. Soak em in a little salt water and don't worry about it.

soak them in salt water over night and then bag them up and freeze them.

make sure your water is completely covered in them to prevent frezzer burning .........

They usually don't last that long in our freezer

the water method works really well, untill i got a vacuum sealer bag for christmas last year. took a while to figure it out, but man it saves storage space in the freezer and for long freezing i would recommend it, prices have come down on it too
