The teams are discussing playing a game in Atlanta to open the 2017 season.
NOT a FSU fan but think this would be good for FSU.
Everyone hateing on your SOS for years no better way to shut people up then Take on the best of the best in the sec in your opener
Unless they get killed be 30pts but atleast they could say they tried

If anyone wants to compare the 2007 version of Alabama football, go right ahead. There was zero draft picks from that senior/junior class that year. Saban has stepped it up, I'd say.

Jimbo is, from all accounts prior to failing miserably as a provider of tough love when needed, a good guy. I've read he's a players coach, which his actions certainly prove. Saban is a hardass of epic proportions. It's football. I'll stick with the hardass.

FSU had an opportunity several years back when the SEC was expanding to join and they wouldn't. They might beat Alabama if they play but they wouldn't have a 27-game win streak in the SEC for sure.
This all the way the only sec team to have a winning streak of even 25 games or more was bama 1991-1993 they won 28 in a row who beat them??? UT:)
They also had a 28 game winning streak in 1978-1980.
So im thinking saying FSU would not have a 27 game win streak in the sec is safe to say since only 1 team has done it and the last time it was done was the early 90's.
no way this FSU team would have a 27 game win streak if they played in the SEC

FSU was a independent at the time. They eventually signed on with the ACC because it was the better deal financially.

If you want to talk about ancient history perhaps you should look to see who won more games during the 1990's. More than any other team and it has not been repeated. Want to take a guess who it was?

I'm sure it had nothing to do with playing the cupcakes of the SEC week in and week out <said with sarcasm>. Miami had the same opportunity and well they ended up in the ACC too.

If you go by wins it was Marshall with 114 they won more games then any other college school in football.

^^^ if your talking winning percentage it's florida st. With .890 they went 109-13-1 but you said who WON more games not best percentage.
Don't see what's that has to do with a winning streak in the sec anyways.

Yes I did say won. I should have qualified it by stating win by major college teams. Marshall, with all due respect to Marshall fans, has no place in this conversation.

During the 1990s alone, FSU had a 109-13-1 record, the most victories by any team during a decade. Only Oklahoma during the 1950s won a higher percentage of its games (89.5 percent) during one decade than Florida State did during the '90s (88.6 percent).

No this doesn't have anything to do with streaks but before you harp about thread drift, you should note I didn't bring up streaks or conferences affiliation. Someone else did.

From what I remember about the FSU to the SEC and why it didn't happen wasn't about $$. It was about being able to win. Bowden didn't want to have to compete with the SEC schools all the time. All that newfound success in football would be watered down and he knew it. There may even be a link floating around out there of Bowden saying it.

I can remember one game FSU didn't win in the 90's. Seems like it was '98 to be exact. That seems like 100 years ago.

Sorry to hijack

What were the odds that a third string QB would be playing in a title game? I don't think that's ever happened before or since.

FSU and Al last met in 2007.
The all time series record between the two teams is:
AL 2 wins, FSU 1 win a there was one tie.

Btw, regarding FSU playing SEC teams. It took an act of the Florida Legislature (in 1953, I think) before Florida would play them.
Yeah, and the series record is 34-22-2 UF. ;)

I have never heard that confirmed. I did hear some conversation before A&M and Missouri signed on regarding Clemson and Georgia Tech jumping in, and one of the show hosts said it wouldn't happen because the purpose of expansion is to pick up TV viewers and exposure in new markets.

IMO, if there is ever another SEC expansion, I hope VA Tech joins the SEC. Getting the SEC into the D.C. market would be huge.
