GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - The University of Florida wanted to figure out gaps in services for victims of sexual assault, so they surveyed thousands of their students at random. After months of waiting, the results are in, and they are startling: about 20 percent of undergraduate UF women said they have experienced some form of sexual assault. Why is this not discussed. :tu:

Because of this..... The rest of the article

"The university says it will use the survey results to further develop programs that educate students about inappropriate behavior, available resources and ways to report it.

"It's good that they're saying they want to help out, instead of keeping silent about what's going on," said UF junior Wendy Pioquinto, "so, I think it's a good step forward."

The university also said before these results came out, they have already required new students to take a mandatory online sexual violence course."

UF did the survey and and trying to improve their campus so that they don't end up in hot water like other schools. Thanks for sharing... :)

20 percent of undergraduate UF women said they have experienced some form of sexual assault. Why is this not discussed. :tu: Only part of the atricle that needs to be talked about

In these cases, I'm not the one trying to prove guilt or innocents.... I sleep good at night... :)

Maybe not but it seems you sure do relish posting to stir the guilt or innocence pot.

Was this thread not about fsu writing a million dollar check because of the actions of a talented young football player?
Why in the heck do you always have to resort to bashing other programs when your favorite school is shown in any kind of negative light?

What I think about mudbones post

Methinks its because some folks delight in posting anything here that will show any program in negative light, regardless of whether or not it has anything to do with a sports related activity.

But this one does .... If it didn't involve FSU Star QB, FSU would of never wrote the check and we would of never heard of this story....

What comes around, goes around. There are negative post on here all the time about UF, ND, Bama, OSU, SC, UT, and FSU just to name a few. The reason why is because those teams have fans on this board.

Never seen a sports forum where everybody heldhands and song the Coca-Cola song.... :rotf:

No, this thread is about guilt or innocence of a University regarding how the University handles reports of sexual assault (I will remind you that the accusers alleged assault did not take place on campus) and no matter how you, the OP, try to spin it, it has no place here.

. So it did not happen on campus, why the would the lawsuit be against the university? Why pay the settlement if it was off campus and the university's hand were clean in the matter?

Because the suit was about the way the University and others handled this case and there's speculation that the case was handled poorly because it involved their star QB. Also both of these individuals were students at FSU. That's the brass tacks of it..... :tu:

Not so fast, lets mention the rest of the story. Here is what the University President had to say about the matter (originally posted by Baddnole).
Note that "speculation" has already been previously debunked by two different law enforcement agencies and a retired Supreme Court Justice's hearing.

Simply because both students attend the University qualifies this as topic here, how? This thread is about nothing other than guilt or innocence and hardly qualifies as sports talk. Are there any scores or lack of scores to discuss? Are there any on field injuries or weather that influenced the outcome of the sporting event? I could go on but I don't think a discussion concerning litigation or the lack thereof has a place here.

Thrasher FSU President, said the university agreed to the settlement to avoid millions of dollars in additional litigation expenses.

"Although we regret we will never be able to tell our full story in court, it is apparent that a trial many months from now would have left FSU fighting over the past rather than looking toward its very bright future," Thrasher said in his statement. "We have decided to instead move forward even though we have full faith that the ultimate outcome of a trial would have been consistent with the previous law enforcement investigations and retired Supreme Court Justice Major Harding's findings in the student conduct hearing."

How about him never suspended or mising a game during the investigation. I'm sure that was figured into this suit. If you now notice that other schools suspended their players immediately during a sexual assault investigations until they are cleared. Harris for UF and Pearson for UT were both suspended until their cases were cleared up.... We can split hairs but the suit stemmed around Winston and him playing football for F$U.....

You must also remember Winston was just a redshirt and had never played a game for FSU.Both of those you mentioned were identified immediately. 3 months later Kinsman said she she thinks she recognized Winston in her class. Did she even go to class?
You need to remember she told the cops the guilty person was a 5ft 8" black man with long dreads ,who looked Chinese or Oriental. Then her Attorney,Aunt, told the police we will get back with you later. Who were they gonna suspend.Sounds more like Treon, except for the dreads Gator since you brought Harris into it just now, since UF is so good ,why wasn't Treon arrested for witness tampering. He threatened the girl when he told her " You better not say nothing to nobody". The answer is Huntley Johnson and his ties to the State Attorney. :tu:
