Not a peep off the roost this morning so I decided just to sit and watch a field. It didn't take long to start having a few birds coming into it and soon a couple of toms followed a hen out. They were probably between 400-500 yards away but I figured it wouldn't hurt to throw some loud yelps at them. One tom broke off and started heading my way fast to my surprise. He covered about 200 yards coast but hung up even though he couldn't see where I was at because of a rise in the field. Then I figured out what was going on, there jakes came charging out and ran the tom off. Shortly after I watched two other toms follow a hen across the far corner of the field so I rush over and set up close to where they went in. I called some and just settled in to sit for awhile when the hen walked out with one tom in tow. I threw some calls out behind me and the other tom came out and speed walked toward me. It was pretty apparent that he was terrified of the other tom. At 25 yards I shot him. 10.25" beard, 1" spurs, 18.52 pounds
