Game time!

Refs were awful all night but we shouldn't have been in OT with that bunch anyway. No Cade and Alonte really had an impact but that's no excuse they had tons of guys out. Hookers timing looked a little off to me, maybe chalk that up to a month long break between games?

But It's alright, we didn't want to have too high expectations next year anyway. Got a ways to go but feeling pretty good about it all.

Bama fan coming in late to this discussion. Fellow Bama fans shouldn't challenge the lost lead, as we barely escaped a horrible Auburn (6-7 record) loss this season.

I had to record the game on DVR, which stopped recording during overtime. So I had to watch the OT ending this morning through YouTub... I gotta say that was a horrible ending. Everyone saw the missed call.

Why can a Coach challenge ball placement for a first down spot, but can't challenge a line judge's opinion of when forward progress was stopped?
It's hard to understand but it's a judgement call on forward progress so it's treated like a pass interference call or a holding call. We have all seen bad calls and mistakes made on penalties but they can't be overturned as they are judgement. I totally understand what you are saying about the spot on the field being challenged and forward progress not but as of now forward progress is one of the things that can't be challenged. When I read the refs lips telling Heupil something about forward progress and seen his reaction I knew it was over. I wish we had simply tried to get closer for a game winning FG in regulation instead of throwing two fade routes down the sidelines. I am not second guessing the coaches ( first one was open)as they know way more than me but just saying what I would have liked to have seen. It's easy to make calls after a play is unsuccessful, people are the best at that. Either way you hate to see a game that was so hard fought end on a bad call for either team. I do believe TN is headed in the right direction they just need to recruit heavy on the defensive side of the ball and that will take a few years. Patience is key here for the fans to allow this staff to get the proper people in place. The offense will attract kids for sure they just need to get that same mentality and type player on the defense and TN will be fine.

Or going for the long ball, rather than using Hooker's legs?

I somewhat agree. That's a game that we should have won.

No idea why they didn't let him do some of the RPO stuff. Roll him out with the option to run.

Concerning the PI calls, I have a feeling that the SEC lets a lot of that stuff go, whereas other conferences may not.

But, Purdue had some questionable calls against them as well.

I do loathe the flopping. Now, I think some of the injuries were legit. The announcers made a great point on one of the d-lineman going down just before a crucial short yardage situation. You don't want one of your best players coming out of the game on that play.

However, when the guy is walking to get set for the next play, looks over at the sideline, and then drops to his butt? Come on, that has to be penalized somehow.

As to the flopping. I'm in Gatlinburg with the family and everywhere you go they had the vols game on.

I did see a couple of plays with the TV on in the background. It did appear that there were a couple of times the Purdue players were itentially faking injuries in order slow the hurry up offense the vols were laying down.

Guess they figured it out.

I just seen where a single guy went down 4 times for purdue.

If you that hurt to the point you can't stay upright more then a couple plays plays in a row, maybe the best thing to do is set the rest if the game out.

The one play I saw was a defense player from Purdue that looked huge basically dropped down to one knee and then the panned the camera to Hooker and you could see he was clearly frustrated by it.

Mentality and messing with the QB and line has been around forever. If you can't stand the heat stay out of the kitchen. They do the same thing to kickers when they let the clock get down to 2 seconds and call a time out and let him think about it. Its all about getting in his head.

Yeah atleast the kicker thing happens once maybe twice. Not over and over and over on different drives. And the team "icing" the kicker is them using a timeout. You don't have unlimited timeouts.

Players can act hurt 100 times a game if wanted nothing against it.
