Gar color variations

Y'all ever seen something like this? First for me

I've shot some solid black ones out of this stream but have never seen one like this.

I actually enjoy eating the gar, they are good but a bit of a pain to clean. I don't eat the carp , they get disposed of on my land.

They are IMO the toughest fish to clean. What it lacks in ease is made up for in taste. Wonderful eating fish if you have the time, and a very sharp knife (sometimes even a hatchet).

Never seen one that color before. You serious about eating gar? What are they similar to, if any? If they are good eating, they are plenty of them.

They stink so bad I never thought about eating one. I would try it if someone else cleaned them. I have tons of them on the Obey river at my farm.
