As crazy as it sounds it looks like it's probably the best opportunity to get an SEC win this year.

Just saw something on another board that is incomprehensible. If TN loses this game (likely), there is a very real possibility of entering 2019 on a 17-game SEC losing streak  ! Wonder how that would affect recruiting :( ?

There is some talent there, and some improvement in play, but if Pruitt doesn't get the OLine figured out, he won't survive more than two years.

I'd come out slinging it with quick throws Saturday. JG has proven more than capable at that.

If vols don't invest at least 5 years in this coach to built the program to his standards the program is doomed for life .

Pruitt has said publicly when asked that not one of his players could be a starter at ALABAMA. I think that says a lot about where he feels the team needs to improve in recruiting and the vision he has for the team .

vols have a coach that knows what it's like to win and how to win . To piss that away after just two years of rebuilding would be asinine.

What do you base that statement on? I'm guessing Butch will fit that category after standing on the sidelines this year?

BTW, Saturday is a HUGE game in his coaching career. The team has come out flat in each of the games so far, and two were against the weakest of the weak. The early play proved it.

If they come out flat again Saturday, then that is pretty telling that he is not a motivator, ala your king Saban.

He's a great defensive coach no doubt, but surely you realize there is more to it in winning football games.

You do realize Saban made the adjustment immediately on the man to man coverage when he realized he had to wrong match up and it resolved the situation ?

To Ole Miss defense they found one single weakness in BAMA offense and theyexploited it in the opener . The rest of the game ???Well lets let the score speak for itself .

:bash:

But what does any of that have to do with whether Pruitt is a motivator and can have coaches in place to fix the Oline?

You keep changing positions like those doves I had a hard time hitting Saturday morning :D !

As far as a big game for Pruitt this Sat ..they are all big games. But hopefully Fat Phil is not counting on this game to define him as a coach. Its going to take years of investing in your coach and this program to see a return. Its going to take years for Pruitt to bring in his own people. He has inherited these kids. Its not his team. He needs to put together HIS team and move forward. In 5 years you can call him a coach or a bum.

I agree. This coaching carousel is not the answer. TN fans just want the instant fix and that ain't gonna happen. All the players that he inherited are Butch's kids and they went through a real bad season last year. He needs time to build HIS team.

I agree with this being a huge game. They also came out strong defensively against WV. Sure Greer gifted us a couple of in-completions, but they were getting after him. Of course they made adjustments and boat raced us in the 2nd half.. That being said, these kids (Butch's recruits) have been notorious for starting flat, so I can't blame a coach that inherited this, for that. They've been starting flat for the past 2 seasons and are picking up where they left off.

Then we better hope FL sputters on offense, or we lose.

FL is tricky. They beat Charlotte (who cares) and lost to KY at home, for the first time in 31 years. Then beat CO State by 38 pts... We know they will play D and we know it will be a tough time moving the ball. IMO the key to the game for the VOLs is not just our pathetic O line, which is not going to improve much in a week, but the defense. If we can start getting pressure on the QB and stop the run, FL's offense will bog down, and we have a chance.

I think it will be close. Hopefully the home field advantage will help. Vols 23-20

That's crazy talk. He will get a minimum of 4 years with Fulmer there.

I find it very hard to believe that he made that comment. Maybe he did but I'd have to see or hear it from the source.

There may not be a ton of guys that would start at bammer but that's a bold statement. Not to mention Pruitt doesn't blabber comments like that.

Ever heard of Trey smith? I'd imagine ol Nicky would love to have him... Actually he tried to get him.

No offense to you all, please dont take this the wrong way but I have to question the sanity of folks who regularly post negative things about the TENNESSEE VOLS on a website called... wait for it...

TN-Deer. Lol some of you guys are hilarious with your anti-Vol agenda. I'd venture to guess that there are more inviting platforms for you elsewhere, afterall this is TN-Deer. (TN is the abbreviation for TENNESSEE) in case you're unaware.

Again, no offense intended to the OP. I'm referencing the regular troll-types who pledge their allegiance to FL and.... hold on... give me a minute....
AL... bahahaha.

I think the "Deer" part of the website URL is the more a uniting aspect that the state in which it resides. Its a hunting themed website not a state themed website. Getting triggered over someone posting something negative about the Tennessee VOLS football team is as silly as getting upset over someone posting something negative about hunting something other than deer.

It isn't VOLSdeer.com

Honestly I would have to give the edge to TN this year.
Granted IF it does play out where they win, it will be meaningless in the grand scheme of things.

But then again, if TN wins while both teams are on the bottom, wouldn't that still be the same as winning when they are both on top? :D

The reason I put the prayer emoji, is because I think that is what it will take for the VOLs to win. I do think you are right and I do think FL will win, but not by 3 TDs like other said. I was thinking more like what you said (21-17), or even 17-13. This could be a monumentally ugly football game.
