geez 5 lbs of jalepenos

and everyone one of them are as sweet as bell peppers. too mild and too wet this last month for them to get some spice. oh well, i have enough bells in freezer so ill toss them on the compost pile.
All of my jalapeños were sweeter than bells this year. Hundreds still hanging on the vine today. I will clean my beds next week and into the popcorn patch it goes

I hate those seasons, I had a stretch of a couple of years when I could not find a hot one anywhere. I tell people I plant Salsa (actually Pico de Gallo) because I plant peppers, tomatoes and onions with sometimes cilantro, but can never take advantage of that because after a couple harvests it goes to seed.

lol yep i had my water bath full of water and jars heating up. i tasted of every pepper and decided screw it. did not taste like jalepenos at all. i was thinking of adding a teaspoon of ground cayenne but it wouldnt be the same. i have plenty of candied jalepenos but was wanting some pickled to eat on pizza and salads and such.

yeah they have to be stressed to produce the capsacian. dont weed too much, dont fertilize too much and only water when they start to wilt. thats when they get hot. the first of spring and fall they wont be as hot as when the hot dry weather in summer.
