i've driven from pagosa springs to northern ms plenty of times with elk in the cooler. We use dry ice and then duct tape the cooler lids , and by the time we arrive back in the south, we still have a little dry ice left.

if you are hunting chama, the guide will probably send you to pagosa springs for a processor. the "Buck Stops Here" in Pagosa is who we have used for the last 8 years, and have not been disappointed. He's not the cheapest, but he's good. If you use them, tell Bernie the "boys from Mississippi" say hi :) And Bernie/Buck Stops here, sells the dry ice , as do most processers out there. Even Walmart has it
