I have a lot of calls and wouldn't hesitate hunting with any of them. I usually take 3 with me. Most of us have that 'go to' call though. I like a pot call made by Marc Cornelius out of Pennsylvania that is a green slate in a walnut pot.

What do y'all like?

Woodhaven red wasp mouth call.

I normally don't even get a pot call out of my vest when setting up on a bird. My go to pot call would be a Halloran Crystal Mistress. 95% of the turkeys that I have killed or called in for my kids have been with a mouth call. Most of them in the past 7 or 8 years have been with the Red Wasp.

Mine used to be a Woodhaven Cherry classic crystal. I switched to mainly a mouth call a few years ago. I was using a Hooks diaphram, but since Mr. Hooks passing I do not think they are as good. So I might be on the hunt for a new "go to" as well.

I build my own box and pot calls, and use them all depending on the situation. Box calls mainly for striking a gobble, and pot for finishing. Having said that, it all depends on what the particular gobbler wants. It still amazes me how some will only gobble to one particular call.

For a long time I had "go to" calls but as I've gotten older and wiser (pertaining to turkey hunting) I don't really have that anymore. I carry 6 mouth calls and 2 pot calls (rotate pot calls in my bag some during the season). I generally just go with whatever a bird is answering to. If it's not call A then I'll go to B and so on.

Having said that I do have mouth call brand and cuts I like and generally use those only but that's mostly cause I found the ones that fit and sound good with how I use mouth calls.

I'm pretty much down to Oak Ridge pot calls are about all I use anymore and just rotate in different surface calls throughout the season.

I don't usually start with the same call when I go, I just grab one out of my vest and start there. I may be the exception not the rule though

I use houndstooth vixen 99.9% of the time
( diaphragm ), if I have my vest or don't. If it's really windy and I need to get loud I'll use my slate which is a hounds tooth Dixie hen. And I also love using my trumpet.

Gooserbat hillbilly or bacon on mouth calls. Gooserbat high standard crystal on pot call.

Jimmy makes some great calls up there at Oak Ridge. I am almost the same. I pretty much only buy from Jimmy, Buster and Mike Yingling.

Brian Mero or Billy Buice trumpet. I also carry a Crystal Mistress, one of the original ones David made back in 2010. His older calls sound better than the newer ones to me.

I don't have just a go to. Really any mouth call. I have a oak ridge trough call I really love. I have a pile of calls I like but I don't Carry many with me anymore.

One of the first I ever used was a H.S.Strut cuttin 2.5 and I always have one with me. Ran across some on sale last year and bought several more. Typically have a couple other mouth calls and a couple pot calls and go with whatever they're responding to.

Of all the different box calls I make, the purple heart/. Poplar is the one I carry.
