He was kind of an outcast. With a pretty big flock, but 20-30 yards away mostly. Which is how he wound up at 40 while the strutter did his thing at 65.

I gave the nasty head to the TWRA for testing, cut the nasty legs off because he has good spurs, pulled the beard, and threw the rest in a creek.

I don't blame you one bit.
 
TWRA forwarded me the lab results from this sickly turkey. Diagnoses was "Lymphoproliferative disease," although the tests of the skin actually came back negative. I don't know anything about this disease, but I'm glad to read that it "accounts for only a minor portion of disease-related mortality." Just thought I'd share the results.


 
Microscopic findings:

Brain:

Congested vessels and mild hemorrhage are scattered throughout the cerebrum and cerebellum. Mild hemorrhage expands the meninges (likely due to the euthanasia method). LOL also known as 12 gauge to the head!!
