Worked 12 hour midnights all weekend. Decided Sunday morning to hit it for a few hours before bed. Saw 3 strutting with hens way out in hayfield I hunt. Snuck down fence row as far as I could. Setup called a few times and they were on top of me.
Got on one and missed mid day Monday. Went back to same farm Tuesday morning setup about 80 yards from him on the roost hit him with a few soft tree yelps and within 3 mins of him hitting ground he had slipped in behind me in cow pasture. Shot him through some brush at about 15 yards.
Hunted another farm Wednesday had a couple toms slip in behind me on a fence row but couldn't make out if they were jakes or not so they got the pass. Went back to farm Thursday eve yelped a few times heard a couple gobbles coming from bottom and just a few mins later had 4 longbeards strutting about 40 yards in the ragweed.

Congrats! All of TNs season condensed into 1 week :)
Yeah kinda stinks. But I'm gonna take my 9 year old and I'm trying to get my 79 yo grandfather to go. He loves it he just can't walk much. We have a permanent blind set up on a small field and we are starting to see some birds there. Would tickle him to get on one.

Just worked out this season. I usually hunt super hard and kill a bird a year. Last year I got one early on and finally got my son 8yo at the time a Jake towards end of season. I had time off work and birds that wanted to play.
