Anyone that thinks the rio and Merriam are "easy" birds for sure hasn't hunt them. Merriam turkeys always seem to be in a hurry to get some. They hit the ground running.

I have not but I'm starting next year with a Rio. I think I know who you're talking about trying to get it done in one year.

I'm thinking about a Nebraska Merriam myself.

Make sure you hunt western Nebraska. The eastern 1/2 is hybrids or Easterns. Seems like they may have Rio's also in one area. Western 1/2, especially northwestern 1/2 of state is Merriams.


Getting a slam isn't really any more expensive than one really good outfitted deer hunt. The Osceola will cost probably what the Merriam and Rio combined unless you have some contacts down there.
