Gutting courtesy

I am not moving a mature buck one foot more than I need to with extra weight in it. I showed up at FT Campbell checkin with the lower legs off once about 10 years ago, won't do that again. You would have thought I got caught spotlighting. I carried that thing on a bare frame whole to my truck about 3/4 mile. Those lower legs on a mature buck are probably 4lbs each it adds up.

For me, there is some difference between gutting a deer and completely deboning one on the spot. The guts disappear pretty quickly. But sure don't understand why someone would gut one back at the parking spot.

I don't hunt public any more but we have certain places on our farms where we gut the deer. If I hunted public you better believe the guts are coming out where ever he fell for sure.

I don't want to stereotype today's young folks, but many of them probably drag it to the truck, where Dad- or another adult can do the field dressing.

Who really knows but I will say I know more adult hunters that have hunted for a long time that won't gut one. I've gutted several for older adults that honestly should be ashamed lol.

My first deer at FTCKY, I called ahead of time and asked if I could fully field dress a deer in the woods, to include skinning and taking the head off, I was told yes. Showed up, and they were waiting for me, apparently I was told wrong and had to drive back with the MP to show proof of sex.
