When I started out hunting probably now 15 years ago I bought a harness that I used I'd say maybe 25 times. With the age when do yoh lm replace them? It's been kept in my sealed basement stuff, and since it's a life or death thing is there a certain age you say better replace this? I wasn't sure how long you all wait to switch them out.

The nylon webbing should be good for a long time if kept out of the sun. Many have a shock absorber sewn into them so if you fall it tears loose reducing the shock. If you ever fall wearing your harness, they recommend replacement.
When I taught hunters ed, I would ask anyone who hunts elevated without a harness if they were willing to stand 2' up on a chair, put their hands in their pockets and fall uncontrolled to the floor. ZERO takers. So WHY does anyone think gravity from 8-10' up or higher will hurt them less? I won't hunt elevated without a harness, and none of my core hunting buddies will either.
There really is NO reason not to be tethered with a harness from the time you leave the ground until the time you get back down.

I agree, be a professional, and wearing a harness is a part of that.
I don't wear it for me, I wear it for my wife and kids and keeping a steady income that they depend upon.
On that, I'm guilty for not replacing my harness often as recommended. I know mine is at least 5 years old and it's been well used but never fallen in.
I am smaller statured at 5-7 and 155 pounds so I feel comfortable letting mine ride another season. If I was closer to 250-300 pounds I'd follow the replacement recommendations much closer!!!
I agree. I've never fallen or anything and everything looks new. I wear it for my family, and I'm honestly scared of heights to the point of I was surprised I could do it. I just didn't know if there I a "expiration" date or timeframe that yeah probably should get a new one. I'm no trying to be cheap as my life to my kid and wife are more important than anything.

Im pretty certain it's recommended to replace safety harnesses every 5 years.
I know at work they periodically inspect and replace expired safety harnesses. If I'm not mistaken they are to be replaced every 5 years.
I'm asking around now will update if it's different than 5 years

at least you weren't on it and had the basket on there bruh! That e-bike might have whipped your ass 473 times with your own harness! Ouch!
