HB 1618

you are exactly right this time.. dont worry bout what the adjacent landowner does. just quit killing them little 4 pointers just because
I dont care what they shoot, it still affects me not one bit, i dont care about shooting little bucks but if the neighbor is tickled with a 4 pt than i hope he gets one.

Well I'm just going to apologize to all weather or not I offended anyone or not . I said I wasn't going down that rabbit hole but here I am.....deep in the hole . Guess the tongue has power of life and death ...so has the finger . Sometimes a man has just got to show his ignorance so guys please forgive me I know my Lord has quite a bit. Love you guys in the Lord !!

It's just another way for the government to get money out of the law abiding citizen and the unlawful citizen doesn't have to pay. Same ol same ol

then you dont care if they bait them to kill those lil 4 points !!
You don't need corn to kill a 4 point. Just a gay 270

you dont think what adjacent landowners shoot affects you??? you must have a large piece of property. interesting philosophy!!!!!!

did you use a gay 270 to kill that?? i really dont care either way but i promise you that 4 pointer will NEVER get bigger!!! keep shooting em
I will and I'll be happy about it. I'm glad I have your blessings. Maybe I'll kill a couple button heads in your county next year in your honor🤣

Nope doesn't affect me one bit, because i dont care . I cant control what happens on their side at all , so i dont let it bother me one bit. I kill what i want because i want too not because of what someone else does.

Here is my take on the subject:
I'm for it. It's private land that it will be allowed on. What's the difference of setting up next to a corn field or apple orchard? This has been a life long argument but with that being said Hunt your Hunt. The bill is not requiring you to bait its allowing you to bait. Private property is just that private. If for one minute you don't think outlaws will be outlaws think again. I use corn in the off season to measure number of deer with camera's. The subject of CWD will come up but that's another subject for a different day. If you use doe pee or buck lure or menarial blocks these are attracts to bring deer close. So ask yourself what's the difference if you use a pile of corn to bring deer close. Look you can only kill so many deer a year. How you do it is up to you. So Hunt Your Hunt. No harm done JMO.🦌
I think they should go ahead and past it that way the honest hunter can hunt just like the illegal hunters, and they are a lot of them if they weren't Wal-Mart wouldn't sell deer corn during deer season, I have always been against it but now don't care because of all the baiting that's already going on

I hear what your saying. My point is we use all kinds of products to bring deer close for a shot so why not legalize baiting on private property. How many use material block or trophy rocks. To me that's baiting. JMO. My feeders in the off season put out 1 gallon of deer feed with some corn in it twice a day. I check them regularly and there is nothing on the ground between times. Wildlife is cleaning it up everyday.

There is absolutely no way that license sales are down in TN. The only way that could be presented as fact is if there is some shady methodology for how they're calculating it. And if you wish to dig further, USFWS data clearly shows that hunter numbers are not down.

If TWRA is claiming they have less operating budget then someone needs to call DOGE on their butts because they're wasting money. With hunter numbers clearly not declining, as per USFWS data, and so many people moving into TN, it's impossible that hunter numbers in TN are down.

But other than that, baiting should remain illegal in TN and there is a long thread elsewhere in which we all laid out the numerous negative effects on wild game and other wildlife as a result of piles of corn on the ground. All it does is make it significantly easier to kill deer. The cons way out-weigh the one pro.
Where'd you see the USFSW numbers? I'd be curious about them too. I thought I just heard them on a meateater podcast say their hunter numbers have been in steady decline with "women" being their only area for growth. TWRA "legal" hunters (legally sold licenses and permits) are down. Doesn't mean there aren't outlaws and others hunting w/o licenses so who really knows- maybe hunting numbers aren't down. I see both sides and spending most of my time hunting other states, my conclusion is TWRA is the least efficient era/dnr of any state I've been inso maybe they need some DOGE! It's hard to trust anything anymore. They'll do what they do and I'll do what I do. God has always provided something for me to get on, some prettier and bigger than others. I'll keep trusting in Him, bait or not. Not trying to fight with anyone here. Hope all y'all get your biggest ever this year!

In the most recent survey data from 2022 they show that the hunter numbers have increased from 2017 - 2022, also they show that the hunters are not dying out, as is also often said. That is demonstrated by the age breakdown of the hunters. All of this was published in a report.

And I've got a screenshot of data from another website attached here.

Meateater stands to profit off new hunters, so of course they push R3 hard. Seems like it's always people who stand to profit off new hunters that are screaming from the rooftops that we're in decline, doesn't it?

And, trust me, TWRA is not the worst. They're aren't perfect but they're leagues ahead of the mind-blowing stupidity and screwing of public land hunters that I currently deal with in South Carolina. SCDNR is so stupid they make "White Dudes for Kamala" look smart.

There absolutely can not be a way that TWRA is selling fewer licenses with all the folks that have moved to TN in recent years, knowing some percentage of them are hunters. Sorry, I'm just not ever going to believe that.

I will also say that, even if hunter numbers were actually declining, which I do not believe to be true, why is that a bad thing? We have fewer places to hunt, so why would we want MORE hunters aggressively recruited by Meateater, BHA, NWTF, etc? Where are they going to go? Because freakin' Yanahli doesn't already have enough people in there hunting? NWTF needs to shove 200 more people in there to hunt turkeys?

If more people naturally get into hunting, fine, we're just gonna be crowded. But I will never support the intentional drumming up of interest of new hunters into an already crowded, and constantly shrinking, resource to hunt in.

Landowner exemption and Lifetime Licenses.

Think of all the huge tracts of land that have now been divided up into 15-30 acre tracts. If a fella owns a couple of those, there's no need to buy a yearly license if that's all he hunts in Tennessee.

With all these kids like my daughter with lifetime licenses that have started to hunt, that is a huge block of people who'll not be contributing to sales for decades to come.

The license money might not be there, but the hunter numbers might be.

Good way of looking at it.🤔

Well, I'll come out of the woodwork for this one.

I'm just south in NoAL and nothing has really changed since baiting was legalized down here. From what I've seen, any decent bucks is typically smart enough to avoid them during hunting season. Even more so, just about every deer avoids feeders in favor as acorns as soon as they start to drop. Not saying a feeder won't keep more deer in the general area, but they aren't as effective as you'd think.

I was on the fence about it when they first legalized it, but now I'm just neutral. Overall, I think the more food in the woods, the better though. Not much different in principle than hunting a food plot that was specifically planted to bait deer in.

Totally agree.
