I got this hermaphrodite looking deer on a mock scrape few weeks back. It was running with a several does and fawns when it came by my camera. This deer is the only one out of the group that checked out my mock scrape. Notice the very blocky body in the first pic, but the odd doe looking neck/head with a full velvet cactus looking rack. Also, notice the tarsal gland in the remaining pics.

What do you say? Any thoughts/ideas?

Yeah that one is weird. If you cover the antlers, you would swear it's a big mature doe. If a buck had a body that big, this time of year he would have a tree trunk for a neck. Add to that the fact that he/she is still in velvet, and I'd say its a shemale.

If thats on ames, would it be within guidelines to kill it?
I suspect if it were killed and were a doe (did not have any signs of external male genitalia), then it would be ok as it would officially be a doe with horns (which is kind of what I am hoping for anyways). With that said, I have a question in to Ames management about putting it on our hit list so we could kill it if given the opportunity. If Ames management blesses my request for it to be placed on the hit list, it will be safe to shoot even if it is a buck. If for nothing more, I would love for a member to shoot it so we could see exactly what it is. Hope this helps.

I shot an 8 point about 5 years ago that was in full velvet in December. He had one testicle about the size of a peanut. If they loose those they will stay in velvet forever. That's why the record books wont accept deer that have damaged or missing genitalia.

I've heard of does bearing antlers, but it's rare, maybe 1 in 10,000 or there abouts. Won't know until you can tell if it has teats or not...probably have to shoot it to find out.
