Went turkey hunting this morning and after I parked my truck and started to walk down the woods road in the dark I heard something move and I stopped and listened and heard a growls and snapping jaws. I could see animal somewhat in the dark and it was about fifteen feet away from me; I believe it was a coyote. This lasted for a few seconds; I was carrying some loppers this morning to cut some brush around where I was going to sit so I could see better. I raised the loppers over my head and step towards the animal and it left. It happen so fast I did not have time to get my shotgun off my shoulder. Later in the morning while turkey hunting I saw two coyotes trotting across a pasture. When walking back to the truck I was looking at the tracks and what I believed happen was the coyote was walking up the woods road and I was walking down the road and we met. Never had that happen before. Whatever it was I do not believe it was rabid because it probably would have attacked me.

I had a similar thing happen to me during deer season a few years ago!
