Nice Buck! One you will remember for sure.First off I normally don't share what I kill on public forums or social media. Honestly I just don't want anyone to know about the deer I kill. I feel if I can keep them a secret then I can have a better chance at killing more big deer without hunter intrusion. I just had share this story with you guys. So I hunted a spot on Nov 22nd that I had been saving all year. I have a cam running on top and have several big bucks checking the scrape my cam is on. I worked my way down two benches and set up. This is the kind of spot that the only thing I was going to pull the trigger on was a very old big buck. Getting one out would be way to hard to deal with anything small. BTW, this was my forst hunt all season with something other than my bow. So about 6:50 I have a doe circle from a water fall behind me. Her tongue was hanging so I knew that a buck was close behind. She stops about 30 yards from my tree panting and looks back up the ridge and I here him crashing down the Mt. So I get my rifle ready and here he comes. I couldn't believe how much mass this guy had. I stopped him at 10 yards but my scope zoom was on 7 and I couldn't really see him that well. He takes off again as I'm fooling with my scope. I finally get it set and he is about to go down to the next bench. He wouldn't stop again so I put the crosshair on his shoulder and squeeze the trigger. I knew I connected by the way he went off the bench. I didn't hear him fall so I waited about 45 minutes and decided to go look for blood where he went off. As I approach the edge there was blood everywhere. I got my binoculars and glassed down below and I could see a white belly. As I'm descending the Mt side all I could think was how in the world am I going to get this buck out of here. I make it to the buck and a shot rings off right down below me. It was a darn trespasser because I am the only one with permission to hunt this property. I really didn't want to fool with that at that moment lol. So snap some pics and tried to get a few with myself and the buck which was difficult. I hiked back up to my stand and carried all my stuff back out. I got back down to my buck and made several phone calls. Everyone I called was either at work or out somewhere and couldn't get to me until later in the day. I decided to cape the buck out there and clean him. This was the first time I had ever had to cape a buck out on the ground which proved to be very difficult. I finally got the buck back out but I was beat. It was worth every second though. Pics don't really do this old guy justice.
