I didn't get to make opening weekend, but I was able to pull my card. I was hoping to see this guy on there. I've been watching him all summer. He disappeared for a few weeks. Any guesses as to his age?

Thanks for the help guys. I was thinking he was around that age. I'm still pretty new to hunting.

When I posted the above response, I had only seen the 2nd picture. The first picture looks so clearly like a 2 1/2 that I've spent the last 10 minutes trying to find proof those are two different bucks! But I can't... Just goes to show how two pictures from different angles can make a buck look totally different.

Honestly, until I see some other pictures of this buck from other angles, I can't say whether he is 2 1/2 or 3 1/2.

Waaaaay too much neck in late September to be only 2 1/2. I'm going with 3 1/2.

BSK, wouldn't you say that his neck just looks so much bigger in pic 2 because he is so much closer to the camera? You can't really see his neck in pic 1 to have a good reference, but his body looks rather small in both pics, which would make his neck look that much bigger.

I'm obviously no expert, but I'd say 2.5.

Honestly, those two pictures look so different, I was absolutely convinced those were two different bucks. But I think it is just camera angle. That's why I say I try to never make a definitive age estimate with only a picture or two to work from. I would prefer dozens of pictures from every angle.

The first picture screams 2 1/2. The second picture screams late-September body conformation of a 3 1/2. More pictures would be a big help. The second picture may be purely a unique camera angle thing.

I'd agree with bsk... hard to believe it's the same deer. the top pic def looks 2.5... just not enough development in the hams at all to be 3.5.

The bottom pic looks like a 3.5 y/o to me as well.

overall, I'd tend to lean more toward 2.5, since I could stretch the bottom pic down to a 2.5 y/o deer, but no way I could up-age the top pic to 3.5
