My grandfather recently gave my son this Japanese WII rifle for his birthday. I wanted to see if anyone could help with identifying the make/model/caliber and where to possible find some ammo for it. All we know was it was brought over from Japan and was used in WII.

That's a Japanese Arisaka. Based on the sight and bolt I would say it's a Type 30. But that's just a guess.

Those were originally 6.5X50mm Arisaka, but some were converted to 6.5×54mm Mannlicher–Schonauer, 7.62X39mm and even .303 British.

The Mum is intact, which is not rare, but its desirable. It means it probably is not a rifle the Japanese surrendered or sold to another country. They ground the Mum off if they could.
