Help selecting climbing stand....

I am going to get a climbing stand and was looking at getting Summit Viper SS, but what do y'all think of this one:

It is a little bit less expensive, but comes with a bow hanger and foot rest. It doesn't mention this stand has the "quick draw" feature on the cables like the Viper SS.

I have the same one and you will love it. Very comfortable and can sit all day with no problem. A lot better than my API. It also grips the tree a lot better than the API.

Agreed with everybody, Summit stands are sweet.

I've climbed in a LoneWolf too, they are nice. But for the money.. Summit.

As far as climbing stands go, We have owned at least 6-7 summits and love them all! A summit is the only climbing stand for me!

my vote is for a Lone Wolf

me too. Let me say this about summit. I have used my brother in law's and liked the way it climbed/sat, but it seemed bulky to me. But it was light and easy to transport minus the bulky part. My Lone Wolf has a pretty heavy platform which helps it lock down better...very stable. I like the belts that wrap around the tree very very quiet. When colapsed the stand can fit behind the seat of a reg cab pick up truck. It folds down to nothing. When climbing (i have the sit 'n' climb) the way the stand is desined it puts you pretty close in on the tree. It feels very secure and safe. I have slipped up before and was so close to the tree all I had to do was quick hug the tree and i was cool. Only bad part about the Lone Wolf it is a little heavy. There's my 2 cents.

The Viper is a very good and comfortable climber. I have one and will give you a little advice. If you plan on bowhunting with it watch the seat rail in front of you when you have a close shot. I adjust the seat as high as it will go and that helps. Also, if you have a squeak on soft bark trees like I did you can take a flat file and gently file away the paint on the back of the teeth that bite into the tree.
That is a very good price.

ut, i've had 2 vipers the last being the ss and let me tell you for a climbing stand you cant beat them for the money. and they are rock solid ! good luck in your search hope this helps. Jag

Just a few more days and I will have one! I have a tree next to my house where I can practice going up and down. The only thing is I can't go higher than 10 ft, so I'll start off on the kiddie ride and move up to the Screamin Delta Demon next.
