Help selecting climbing stand....

IMO you cant go wrong with either Summit or API
API to me seems a little more stable
and the Summit is faster to set up
I have both and wouldn't chose one over the other

It would be ok for a gun stand but would not even be an option for me to bowhunt from, due to the railing going around you. Sooner or later I can guarantee that railing will result in a missed opportunity due to not being able to shoot because its in the way of your bow on some shot angles. On my bow stands I do not want anything around me at all!

The Viper is a very good and comfortable climber. I have one and will give you a little advice. If you plan on bowhunting with it watch the seat rail in front of you when you have a close shot. I adjust the seat as high as it will go and that helps. Also, if you have a squeak on soft bark trees like I did you can take a flat file and gently file away the paint on the back of the teeth that bite into the tree.
That is a very good price.

Ditto . I use a Summit Viper for comfort ,and a Summit Open Shot for those long walks to a stand site . I think you will be happy with the Viper , UTgrad .

That can happen when sitting , but has never been an issue for me while standing up.

UTGrad - have you bought yet? If not get over to my house and try a couple climbers to see what you like. If you have then come over anyhow and we'll see how it's working for you.

I am pretty set on this model, but will definately give you a buzz when I get it. I need to put it together and learn the basics. I plan on practicing this climbing stand thing so I can do it before sunlight in the woods with only a headlamp.
