I have been at my place twice in the past week hunting dryland fish, and have seen a single hen right inside the woods, the question I have is do you think there is a tom around if I have a hen there? dont turkey hunt alot but I am thinking of tring it in this spot. What would you do?

What time of day? She should be with the gobbler early in the morn and then be back in his general area late in the afternoon. Any time other than that and you can see hens anywhere this time of year.

She doesn't have a nest there. Hens do not hang around their nests or nesting area. It is typical to see hens almost anywhere this time of year as they travel distances to do their nesting and feed along on their way there and back.

I wonder what the lag time is between being bred and actually settling on a suitable nesting area. You know women, they just cannot make up their mind and are never really truly satisfied.

Ha! Ha!
