4onaside - I cannot believe you posted that whining azz observation, you are starting to sound like me.
Surely you did not witness that while afield turkey hunting, you must have been dreaming like I was my first week in the woods. LOL  In all seriousness, you are about the 20th turkey hunter I know that hunts middle and west TN that has witnessed that exact behavior. Many of these guys have
been seeing gobblers grouped back up totally ignoring hens and gobbling little to none. Some buds of mine witnessed two old birds out in a disked field with hens this morning in Dickson county, hens on one end, old birds on other end as if the hens were not even there, old birds finally walked off out of sight, not gobbling, not strutting, just pecking around feeding. The two old birds gobbled 12 times total on limb and ground and these birds have NOT been hunted or pressured all year. This is just an observation that I am sharing with the group here, I do not need any smart azz comments about whining from anyone.
