Hens nest???

Do hens immediately start setting on their nest when the first egg is layed or do they wait until they have a small clutch of eggs before nesting. I know after the nest has several eggs they will set almost continuously on it except for in the middle of the day for a couple of hours to feed.

They wont actually start sitting the nest until the entire clutch is layed. This ensures they all hatch about the same time.
