Well that was an expensive fishing trip but worth every penny to see her excitement. I told her last year if she catches one over 6 lbs I would mount it for her. She caught one 5.8 lbs last year and I was kinda kicking myself in the butt for not getting that one mounted.
She caught this 7.6 lber last night around midnight. 16" girth and 23" long. She was on bed. We took measurements and pictures then released her.

you gonna have a replica made?

Yes. Does anyone have a suggestion for where to go? My guy that does deer is excellent at deer but his fish aren't impressive.

yeah i dont know, most replicas ive seen look kind of screwed up.

I'm not a big fan of replicas either but I would rather have one than kill the fish.

Check out taxidermy at Bass Pro. That's where ive been planning on getting my next fish from. Replicas cheaper there than any taxidermist ive priced and look good.

i do believe Wilson from crossville does stuff for bass pro. i remember the guy that caught that 14 pounder on the chic saying something about him and looking at his web page he does replicas.

How do you bass fish at night ? That is something I've always heard people talk about but I've never done it and they never really explained how. I've heard using black spinnerbaits and black buzzbaits which just seems odd to me. But I'm very interested after seeing that fish!

I like to fish bluffs and chunk rock banks with a black/purple or pink spinnerbait with a Colorado blade or a black/ blue jig.

Congratulations to your GF on a great bass! I bet that was a great fight landing that fish in the dark!

It all happened in a few short moments. She said "I got one" I laid my rod down jumped in the bottom of the boat and got the net. When I looked back up my head lamp was pointing at the fish as it was almost laying on its side digging sideways trying to get to deep water. The fish turned and came straight towards the boat and jumped 2' out of the water and I caught it in the net as the spinner bait went over our heads. It was a close call but we got it in the boat.
