I'll tell you what's not very impressive - the SEC. It's basically a 1-team conference. O-ver-rated.

So which conference is the best?

Too early to tell, but here's a new data point that indicates it may be the Big (Ten+4):

AP Top-25
ACC: 3 teams - Clemson, FSU, North Carolina
American: 2 teams - Houston, Navy
Big (Ten+4): 6 teams - Ohio State, Iowa, Michigan State, Michigan, Northwestern, Wisconsin
Big (12-2): 4 teams - Oklahoma State, Oklahoma, Baylor, TCU
FBS Independents: 1 team - Notre Dame
Pac-12: 5 teams - Stanford, Utah, USC, Oregon, Washington State
SEC: 4 teams - Alabama, Florida, LSU, Ole Miss

The Coaches Poll is basically the same.

Also, the Vols did not receive any votes...

Others receiving votes: Toledo 39, Arkansas 35, Memphis 32, Mississippi State 25, UCLA 18, Pittsburgh 15, Temple 13, Texas A&M 8, Georgia 8, Western Kentucky 4, Bowling Green 4, Air Force 1, Arkansas State 1

The SEC still has like 8 of the National Championships since the turn of the Century. Does another conference even have 2? This isn't even a worthwhile conversation. The SEC is King.

Don't you know that facts and common sense have no place in this thread? You're supposed to stay quiet and go with the fuzzy math. :D

farmin, why are you pretending that home field advantage isn't 3 points? You know it is. So, basic math and common sense tells you that if a road team loses by 2 points then they are probably as good or better than the home team they lost to.

Fact: Big Ten+4 has 6 top 25 teams
Fact: SEC has 4 top 25 teams

To quote Pvt. John Winger, "That's the fact, Jack!"

This coming from the same fan that claimed his team was technically undefeated last year and who picks and chooses whether to make his own definitions or use the actual dictionary. This just keeps getting better. :rotf: :rotf: :rotf: :rotf: :rotf:

but what if this or that or it was wet, or wind was blowing, and your putting down the Vols who lost to 3 top 15 teams by ONE play, give me a break

Someone needs to buy farmin a sarcasm detector for Christmas. [emoji6]

As for the Vols, my only beef with them is choking against the Bammers. They owe the college football world an apology for that!

You would know...

Clemson 23, FSU 13
And the last time you beat lousy FSU was? :rotf: :rotf: :rotf: :rotf: :rotf: :rotf: :tu:

Dobbs fumbled from getting hit by the best DLines in the country, thats choking? Bamers last drive thise receivers made some great catches and were guarded well. Lets see how the dome heads choke if your unlucky enough to play bamer

Notre Dame would lose on purpose to avoid Bama :rotf: :rotf: :rotf: :rotf: :rotf: :rotf: :rotf: :rotf:

Bama is the best team in the world. EVER. I fully expect the "Committee" to declare that on December 6 and there will be no need for a playoff after the national champion is declared following the $EC championship game. There will be no outcry because all other teams are afraid of Bama. Players on the other teams with NFL aspirations will be happy for fear of injury in a game against Bama could put an end to their NFL dreams.

What I haven't been able to figure out is why just about every Bama player ends up a bust in the NFL?*

* Edited: except for Amari Cooper, Joe Namath, and Kenny "the Snake" Stabler.

Alabama has the 4th most active players in the NFL(34) only LSU, Miami and USC have more.

The only reason the Bammers are still in the discussion is because of a 4th quarter choke job by the Vols.

Bama is still in the discussion because anyone not blinded by hate can see they are a really good football team...perhaps the best defense in the Nation. It wouldn't surprise me at all if they were voted #1 by the committee tonight.

Gators will knock them off..... :rotf:

It's a team game, and there are dozens/hundreds of really good college players that never translate to the NFL. But the CFP's rankings are sort of tracking NFL draft projections. http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/prospectrankings

Taking those projected in the first round and those projected either first or second round (i.e., top 40 draft picks currently projected), these are the rankings:

OSU - 6
Alabama - 5
Clemson - 3
Notre Dame - 3

Gators, Sparty, Baylor, UCLA all with 2. Ole Miss is an outlier with 3 (If Hugh Friez coached at OSU, Alabama or Notre Dame, he would be circulating his resume.) OSU and Alabama account for 27% of the projected 2016 NFL first round draft picks. Gators, Sparty, Baylor, UCLA, and Ole Miss combined account for another 27%, but add Clemson and Notre Dame to that total and that's the other 42% combined. Then everyone else.

Watch the OSU vs Sparty game on Saturday and see 20% of next Spring's NFL draft play. Only the Alabama vs. Ole Miss game compares.
