Thanks to you guys some of the birds have actually moved north. My son killed a 3 year old bird this a.m. I was almost back to my truck at 11:30, not having seen or heard a bird all morning, and one gobbled just before I got there. Then he gobbled again, one time as I was about to put my gear in the truck. I swear he was messin' with me. My attitude at that point was, I'll just deal with you in the morning!

I don't think so on the henned up. Monday morning(my first time out this season) there were some gobbling right around me(same area where there was none this morning). The bird that my son killed this morning was by himself, been trying to get out in front of him for an hour, and killed it at 10:15. While he was carrying his bird back to the truck a longbeard was out in the open by himself. I personally have done better with longbeards when they have been with hens. I call in the hens, and the man has just got to follow. lol But I don't get to serious about thinking that I know what I'm doing. I just go with the flow and occasionally a bird will seek me out and commit suicide.

I am longer on patience than I am skill. I hunt from pop-ups just about exclusively now, and its easy to stay put when you have a canvas chair and food and water. And you don't bust near as many birds that are coming in when you don't know they are there. Of course, its boring for some, or many, but its the most effective way that I know of for me to kill birds.

you know I bet I could sit a lot longer if I had this same setup. A bottle or two of water, glass bottle of sundrop, some food, fully charged phone for Tndeer browsing, comfortable seat, all inside a pop up blind an I bet I could sit a lot longer than I do on the ground. I tend to max out at 3, sometimes 4 hours sitting still in one spot on the ground.
