Question came up the other day. Do you think they have air tags or some other type of tracking on their deer? I'm sure it would be illegal but as much as they charge you'd think they would. Get ready he's about to walk out in 3,2,1 lol

I have no idea if they do and it wouldn't surprise me at all if it happens.

For those that are are for or against high fence hunting, does your opinion of the area fenced changes. So a 20 acre pen vs 20,000 acres.

It depends. Are they fencing to keep trespassers out or keep deer in? Are they controlling which animals are bred? Do the deer come running when they whistle?

You control too much with the 20 acres, so with the 20k acre fenced area it's a high fence, but no selective breeding. Basically it's a wild herd with a high fence. They are not dog trained.

On a piece of property that big that they basically just want to control the outside variables I would have no issue hunting it but I wouldn't be willing to pay the price they charge

I would never do it personall hunt or have one. But I'm not for or against it period. I understand the 20k acre places trying to control the trespassing. And I farm cows so I understand the pen raises deer for farming to. But it's still high fenced at the end of the day and there's a reason they can't put them in the record books.

Just food for thought. Not sure that I'd do it, or not, but certainly would never hunt a small fenced area.

I am not an advocate for high fenced hunts but I do have some experience with enclosures and what surprised me the most is that some of the animals would go unseen for 2 or 3 weeks and I would be in there almost daily. The enclosure size was around 750 acres. It was an unexpected observation for what I would consider mostly "tame" animals.

I've worked in high-fences so big I strongly suspect most of the deer inside have never encountered the fence. Then I've seen high-fences so small it's an embarrassment to call it hunting.

But even in the large high-fences, I see deer exhibiting far less hunter avoidance than in the wild. I think it is a combination of total lack of free-ranging dogs, heavy predator control, and the fact most bucks are not targeted until they are fully mature. If they've lived their whole lives never having to fear Man, why would they suddenly start doing so on a given birthday?
