Well I'm back from the vacation, with a little yak fishing mixed in, and it was a blast. I made some exhausting paddles against strong North winds and fighting tide current and started out with my personal best, almost 30" redfish. That thing pulled my kayak all over the flat and into the marsh grass. I was scared she was gonna break me off but I fought carefully and was successful.
I then got skunked twice and was so confused as to what I was doing wrong. I tried new spots and different tide situations and finally figured out a pattern at the end of the trip. I got a small red, one big one that pulled 30 feet of drag and came loose, then this perfect slot sized eater.
Also got 20-30 sea trout, all short except one 16 incher that we ate as well. Those marshes are beautiful, I'm gonna try to get a highlight video put together by the end of the week. This redfish was one of the best seafood dinners I've ever had.
Life is good. Tight lines and God bless!
