Glad you got him. I've shot a bunch in the neck, and they've all fell. At least so far. My favorite shot. I won't try it over about 50 yards though.

I have a history with this deer.

Most of you remember last year, on November 18, 2021 I shot a decent 8 point that got up and ran off after I took a picture of it laying on the ground. Here's the link.

What happened?

I got home from work a little early today so I jumped on the 4 wheeler and went to the bean field. Saw a 6pt and a 4pt no sooner than I set up. They went on about their business and about 15 minutes later a nice 8 pt came barreling by me at 15-20 yds on a mission. He stopped at the woodline...

Fast forward to yesterday, November 21, 2022 I was hunting the same farm, sitting under the same tree, but a totally different style of hunt. Last year was 7mm-08 scoped and ready for anything. This year 30-30 wanting close shot.

After examining and skinning the deer from yesterday, I found the bullet in his neck from last year. Amazing how tough these animals are.
