Hopefully he hangs around for a few more weeks...

CAW,
Are you able to id any of these deer from 1 year to the next? Did you see them last year (either hunting or cam)?

Good-lucking bucks.

Yes. Believe it or not, that double drop tine deer was just a basic 8 point with a little kicker coming off of his left G2. (I'll see if I can find a pic) This year, his frame and brows are shaped exactly the same, just bigger and of course he now has the other stuff as well. Passing him up was a really good decision!

Thanks for the response CAW. One thing I've been trying to track and learn better year over year is how best to ID a particular deer as they age and what just 1 year of age can contribute to antler growth. I'm admittedly not too good at it yet. It's just nuts though what 365 days can do...just amazing.

Best I can tell is there's generally a BIG year over year jump in bone between 3-5. 4 yr or older deer are getting easier for me to ID as i continue trying to calibrate my eye to that age. After 5 yrs though I gotta be right honest...Just can't tell bodywise. They all just look big, old, fat, ornery, and like they ain't got no teeth.

I sure hope you connect with that deer this year; I b'leev it might be time for him to croak. :)
