How big do turkeys get?

I just checked some old data that I had for Ft Campbell. Throwing out the obvious jakes most fall between 19 and 22 pounds. There are 6 above the 23 pound mark and 2 over 25. That is for one season on Ft Campbell. I do know a reliable source that has witnessed a 28lb bird taken in Stewart Co.

I think weight ranges are dependant on the pre season activities...lol

Like this year I think the gobblers weight will be down from previous years, as they are already in the strutting stages, following the ladies around, LOOSING weight.

I have seen some years where the season seemed like it opened too soon, and the birds harvested on opening day were heavier than norm...so many factors.

I carried one out that weighed 150lbs till I put him on the scale he weighed 23lbs they seem heavy on long walks lol

Aching arms by the time I get back to the truck to find out it is only 20lbs?
