Oregon recruiting class rankings per Rivals:

2010: #13
2011: #9
2012: #16
2013: #22
2014: #26
2015: Currently #20

Five year average from 2010 - 2014: 17.2

Is their coaching and player development just better than everyone else, or is their system so unique that normal measurements of recruiting success don't really apply? Or....are they a product of having a few phenomenal players at key positions like QB?

They don't recruit "stars," they recruit speedy team players. Their discipline on the field is amazing to watch. People can complain about the Ducks all that they want, but I like to watch them play. They have great ball handling and footwork

Yup they get very fast quick speedy guys and get them the ball in the open field, also having a very very good QB last couple years don't hurt none:)

True. Recruiting is no doubt important, but not everything. Coaches and programs that can take recruiting classes that are around #20, coach them up, and make dominate contending teams are much more impressive than teams that just try to rely on 4 and 5 start talent. TCU is a perfect example. Last year out of 25 recruits they only had 1 4*, 12 3*'s, 7 2*'s, and 5 unranked recruits.

recruit good kids. kids that respect others and the game. get a solid leader that leads by example on and off the field. work hard for a common goal and kids football as your primary focus other than god. It helps to have a 6'4" qb that runs in the 4.5's, who is an academic all American and has the highest completion percentage in NCAA history and refuses to throw picks. plus he is a choir boy off the field- rather than a rapist, crab thief

Fwiw, your rapist and crab thief has a better record and more national championships than your choir boy. Being a choir boy, while respectable, has nothing to do with performance. He is a phenomenal athlete. The one you compare him to has more accomplishments whether you admit it or not.

so are you are saying that character isn't relevant? they have both won the Heisman- mariota by a wider margin, and both been the ap player of the year. Rapeis may have a one more national title, but the Mariota should fix that pretty quick- bout 2 weeks. when the draft rolls around, Mariota will be selected waaaay ahead of Thugus Winston. I figure to an extra 10-12 million a year over the felon. That accomplishment has to be worth something.

I know you are disapointed but Jameis has never been arrested or charged with a crime. Maryota will never make the pro Winston will be.
You have no idea how either of the two will do.

someone will probably eventually picked Winston up- maybe the raiders or bengals, who overvalue felons. he doesn't have the mental ability to play the position at the next level. he will stay in trouble, rape a few more girls, couple night club brawls, get caught with dope a few times and end up 350 pounds living with vince young and Jamarcus Russell. Just my prediction. Mariota will be a star- good guy, smart, great athlete. hoping and praying he will make it to number 2 overall pick and be a titan, but looks like he will go number one to Tampa Bay and be the face of their franchise

Hahahahahahah o gosh hahah thats funny!!!! :rotf: Then why does all the NFL experts have maryota has the number 1 pick?? If winston is gonna be a way better QB? I guess you know more then the experts??Wait titans have the #2 pick they may take him but everything I've read last couple weeks they don't want to take winston :rotf: and there gonna get a pass rusher! And keep there 6th round pick (178) at QB instead of picking winston :poke: hahahah and trust me titans need a QB BAD! So that's saying something if they pass on him! 80'/, of experts have him dropping outta the top 5.

I have been reading up on Mariota draft position and it is overwhelmingly number 1. Winstons stock is dropping as fast as all his charges did in land of the Seminole. unless titans are willing to trade up, Mariota will be gone (barring injury )

The suck for the Duck campaign started one win too late in Nashville.
Yep. He would be a good qb with a warm welcome in nashville. If we could get him, I would start going to games again (maybe). If the Titans pick winston, I'll be a bandwagon fan of some other team and continue to boycott the Titans and have a hard time giving away my tickets.
Can u imagine what a punk like winston would act like if given several million dollars?

Winston is the next Vince Young. He'll be broke and jobless in 5 years tops. Even if Mariota loses to OSU, he's still going to be regarded higher by NFL teams. With all that has went on this year in the NFL, another player with rape allegations will be under a microscope.

yep and he would be a great role model and teammate. I would start going to the games again as well. after drafting pac man and young with high picks, TN could help right the ship and stop trying to be the next Cincinatti. If they draft Rapeis, OH MY!
