I dropped 4 arrows off to be re-fletched and asked t have 6 more made just like them on Aug 6. How much longer should I wait before I pick them up and take them somewhere else?

Depends on the help he has, ppl tend to wait til the last minute to take there arrows to get fletched and they will get backed up, out pro shop owner here locally says dont even bring em in the last 2 weeks of season cause they wont be done???

I think I will go by there sat. and if they are not done or they wont be done before the next Sat I will just pick them up.

Get a Bitzenburger jig , then just wait until the glues sets . :) It's the best investment you can make . I have had mine for over 25 years now .

its like arts and crafts for rednecks!!!!!!

I quit using the jigs and glue when the shrink-wrap Blazers came on the market. I re-fletched all my arrows and they fly great and are durable. Only one needed re-fletching in over a year. I do all my practicing with only 4 arrows, so each arrow gets used a lot.

When I did fletch jobs, if a person had to wait more than 4 days for me to get them done, I was in a major backlog or tied up at my full time job.
do like the others have said, do you own. it may cost a few pennies more to get started but it is well worth the time you spend making sure they are right. and the satifaction of doing it yourself makes the hunt more enjoyable.

Lot of good options to doing your own. I like my bitzenberger alot and so far the Extreme Shrink Fletch has done good. Also the new Bohning Blazer helix jig is good, but not near as well made as a Bitz.IMO.

My question is, when did they tell you they'd be ready?

When I'd have arrows to do for a customer, I'd let them know when they'd be done. Normally not any longer than the next day. (Unless we were waiting for a shipment of the specific fletch and/or shafts wanted. Then I'd call the customer when they were ready for pick up.)

In busy season this sometimes meant being at the shop fletching until midnight or getting in 3 hours early. But as far as I was concerned I had to stand by what I told a customer.

I've got a bitz jig that I got for Christmas, but I haven't even taken it out of the box. I will say that Blazer vanes are pretty darn durable.

Teresa, when you gonna open shop back up? Some of us out here miss you guys! And I will say, of the few bits of archery equipment that I bought elsewhere, it always ended up costing me more in the long run!

Sorry Greg. The business cost us too much. Between overhead and inventory investment ...
As you know John is doing bow maintenance work and has brought in some Carbon Impact arrows.
Give him a call sometime. 865-988-9939

im fairly new to bowhunting... if i bought my arrows at bass pro "prefletched" are they ok? i dont think they have any helical at all though...they seem to fly fine whats the benefit in fletching yourself?

When i buy new arrows i usually shoot them until they need to be fletched again. But advantages of doing them yourself, saves you lots of money in the long run, you can customize your arrows to fit yourself, and it gives you a greater since of satisfaction when they are complete.

Sorry, not trying to hijack the thread, but Teresa can John order any bows and have them sent directly to him?

I didn't ask and they didn't say. My fault. But I stopped by there today and they were ready. Almost. They had to cut the 6 news and put inserts in them. Happy enough with the job that I bought a QAD Ultra rest had them install it and before I left I had ruined another nock.

went in to store yesterday asked how long it would take he said two weeks. i went bout me a jig couple hundred vanes and some glue and acetone and my arrows are done... now doing my brothers uncles and couple others guys will make the money back this year
